RESEARCH / THE CHALLENGE
GOALS
The team identified a critical issue of users disengaging from the app and losing interest in their workouts. The primary objectives were to boost retention metrics in the workout section, enhance post-workout satisfaction, and instill a sense of accomplishment. Additionally, the team aimed to motivate users to subscribe after completing three workouts.
RESEARCH / MY ROLE
MY CONTRIBUTION
Initially tasked with improving the user experience through animation, I took the initiative to lead and broaden the scope.
I spearheaded the research:
-
Conducted a heuristic analysis
-
Scrutinized the business model through a model canvas
-
Executed surveys
-
Conducted in-depth interviews
This comprehensive approach revealed significant opportunities for product development.
RESEARCH / SURVEY
SURVEY RESULTS
To gather data, I enlisted respondents from group training sessions and collaborated with club organizers to distribute the survey within the community.
50%
respondents exercise every day
50%
respondents exercise weekly
Respondents use such competitor applications:

NRC
Runastic
Strava
GymUp

HYPOTHESES AND INTERVIEW GOALS
Hypothesizing that individuals using sports apps lead busy lives and require support and motivation during workouts, I aimed to confirm these assumptions and pinpoint situations demanding coach assistance. This strategic insight aimed to inform improvements in the user experience.
INTERVIEW
METHODOLOGY
Utilizing the "Hook method," I crafted questions categorized into Abstracts (determine), Emotions (compare), Facts (evaluate), and Details (concept of importance).
This approach elicited detailed responses, observing respondents' emotions and understanding nuanced experiences.
UNDERSTANDING THE USER AND
INTERVIEW RESULTS
The research validated the hypothesis, revealing users' desire for motivation and coaching support, particularly in challenging exercises like strength training and push-ups.
Recommendations included incorporating sound accompaniment and animated interfaces to provide timely assistance.
